Last updated: 24 June 2026  ·  Effective immediately  ·  Governed by Indian law

Youth Liberal ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting the personal data of every individual who engages with our movement. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, how we store it, and what rights you have over your data.

This policy is governed by the Information Technology Act, 2000, the Information Technology (Reasonable Security Practices and Procedures and Sensitive Personal Data or Information) Rules, 2011, and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDPA) of India. By submitting our membership form, you confirm that you have read and understood this policy.

Section 01

Who We Are

Youth Liberal is an independent youth political movement based in India. We operate as a Data Fiduciary under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, meaning we determine the purpose and means by which personal data is processed.

For all data-related matters, we can be contacted at the email address listed in Section 13 of this policy.

Why We Collect It

Under the DPDPA 2023, we are required to state a clear and specific purpose for every category of personal data we collect. We collect your information for the following purposes only:

  • Purpose 1
Membership Registration To register you as a member of Youth Liberal and maintain an accurate member database.

Section 04

Sensitive Personal Data

Two of the data points we collect — your motivation for joining and your intended contribution — may reveal your political opinions, beliefs, or affiliations. Under Indian data protection law and international best practices, information that reveals political views is treated as sensitive personal data.

Important Notice By submitting these responses, you explicitly consent to Youth Liberal collecting and processing this information for internal movement purposes only. This data will never be sold, shared with third parties, or used for purposes other than those stated in Section 3.

We apply an elevated standard of care to this category of data. Access is restricted to authorised members of Youth Liberal's core organising team only.

Section 06

Members Under 18

Special Requirement — Minors Youth Liberal welcomes members under the age of 18. However, the DPDPA 2023 requires that the personal data of minors be processed only with verifiable parental or guardian consent.

If you are under 18 years of age, a parent or legal guardian must provide consent on your behalf before your membership registration is processed. This is done through a separate guardian consent step in our registration process.

We do not knowingly collect data from individuals under 18 without verified parental consent. If we become aware that we have done so, we will delete the relevant data immediately and notify the individual concerned.

Parents or guardians may contact us at any time to review, correct, or request deletion of data submitted by a minor in their care.

Section 07

Your data is collected via Google Forms and stored in Google Sheets. Google acts as a Data Processor on our behalf under a data processing agreement. By submitting our form, your data will be handled in accordance with Google's own privacy practices.

You can review Google's Privacy Policy at: policies.google.com/privacy

Beyond Google, we do not share your personal data with any third party — including advertisers, political parties, commercial organisations, government bodies (unless legally compelled), or any other individual or entity.

We do not sell, rent, trade, or otherwise transfer your personal data for commercial purposes.

Section 08

Data Retention

We retain your personal data for as long as you remain an active member of Youth Liberal, or until you request its deletion — whichever comes first.

Upon receiving a valid deletion request, we will permanently remove your data from our Google Sheets records within 30 days. We will also request deletion from Google's systems in accordance with their data deletion processes.

We do not retain archival copies or backups of personal data beyond this period. Once deleted, your data cannot be recovered.
